Below is a concise summary of my educational qualifications and work profile:
  1. I am an Indian citizen. I was born and brought up in the capital city of New Delhi.
  2. I completed my schooling from the prestigious Convent of Jesus and Mary, Delhi and passed the Senior School Certificate Examination with distinction in Chemistry, Maths and Physics.
  3. Thereafter I did my BA (Hons.) in Economics from Shriram College of Commerce, Delhi University.
  4. This was followed by a post-graduate diploma in ‘Journalism for Developing Countries’ from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, which is affiliated to the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. I was fortunate to be one of the top five students and also received the Tribune Prize.
  5. Immediately hereafter, I started working for The Financial Express, which is part of the well-known group, Indian Express Newspapers, recognized for its investigative journalism.
  6. At the same time I started learning the German language at Max Mueller Bhavan, Delhi. After completing the entire course till “Oberstufe”, I enrolled for a Masters in German Studies at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, where I specialized in Translation and Interpretation.
  7. During my MA course I won a three-month exchange scholarship to Heidelberg University, Germany.
  8. Initially, I started as a free-lance translator, since there were not many multinational companies in India in the 80s and 90s. I worked for independent agencies in Delhi and Germany and also did some freelance assignments for the German Consulate.The subjects ranged from journalistic texts, computers, IT, technical, engineering, medical, pharmaceutical, environmental, literary and business texts, brochures and manuals, travel and tourism to promotional texts on art and architecture.
  9. In the mid-90s, I relocated to Pune, which is located close to the metropolis of Mumbai and is well-known for its educational institutions and IT companies.
  10. I worked for The Indian Express in Pune as a features writer for several years. Hereafter, I also worked for Neilsoft Ltd as a content development manager for their travel portal. The assignment involved research, compilation and content management of all travel-related data.
  11. With liberalization in India, many foreign companies set up base in India. This was a golden opportunity for any foreign language professional. And I was fortunate to work asa translator in companies like Robert Bosch in Bangalore, IBM Ltd. and Syntel. My work profile includes translation of financial, legal,technical and of course, journalistic documents.I have worked on documents for clients, “Daimler, Volkswagen”, “Deutsche Telekom, BMW Bank, Deutsche Bank”.Thanks to my experience in working with large corporates, I now have good knowledge of Microsoft tools and Internet.I am also proficient in using TRADOS and Systran(translation softwares).
  12. However, my love for writing never abated and I diversified into writing books. I have written two books so far – first, a biography of a London-based industrialist, Mr. LP Jaiswal, and owner of Jagatjit Industries, which produces premium liquors. The book, titled “The Grand Aristocrat”, was published in December, 2002.
  13. The second one belongs to the genre of motivational/inspirational fiction and is titled “On Cloud 9 – Celebrating the Complete Woman”.The book educates women to become more aware of how to deal with money and lead a fulfilling and independent life. It was published in 2011.
  14. It was always my desire to learn another foreign language and a few years ago, I started learning French. I have completed the B2 level.
